Summary |
"What I pretend to have done in some degree in the following treatise, is, that I hope I have explained the nature and causes of nervous distempers from principles easy, natural and intelligible, deduced from the best and soundest natural philosophy; and have by the plainest reasoning, drawn from these causes and this philosophy, a method of cure and a course of medicines, specifically obviating these causes, confirmed by long experience and repeated observations, and conformable to the practice of the ablest and best writers of these diseases. My chief design is to recommend that plain diet which is most agreeable to the simplicity of unconquered reason"--Book. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2009 APA, all rights reserved). |
