Summary |
In January of 1890, this recording was made by Julius Block on behalf of Thomas Edison, from whom Block had acquired a phonograph a year earlier. It features the voices of Tchaikovsky, Anton Rubenstein and several others, recorded during one of Block's phonograph salons. The translated transcript is as follows: A. Rubinstein: What a wonderful thing.J. Block: Finally.E. Lavrovskaya: A disgusting...how he dares slyly to name me.Vasily Safonov: (Sings).P. Tchaikovsky: This trill could be better.E.
