Summary The family of young Helen Keller was desperate for guidance after an illness in early childhood left her blind and deaf. They sought help from Alexander Graham Bell who was known at the timeℓfor his work with deaf children. Following a meeting with the Kellers in February of 1887, Mr. Bell advised the family to hire aℓprivate teacher and put them in contact with the institution that would help them secure the services of Annie Sullivan.ℓIn this letter, Helen's father, Arthur Keller, provides an enthusiastic updateℓof his daughter's progress since their meeting.
